Experience peace and quiet
A beautiful place
Surroundings
The vast beaches are special every season. The green hinterland contains beautiful polders and villages full of character. Nearby you will find the allure of Knokke and the history of Bruges. The area offers all the ingredients to relax, to be active, to taste the culture and flavours of the region, in short, to enjoy in your own way. Here are our tips.
Peace & space
Inside the hotel you will find a soothing atmosphere characterised by natural materials, earthy colours and large glass windows that offer fantastic views of the beach and sea.
The beaches of fine sand are bordered by the sea and picturesque skies, and on the other side by wide dunes with walking and cycling paths. This place has the most hours of sunshine in the Netherlands.
Healthy for body and mind
Cadzand bears the title ‘healing seaside resort’ due to the quality of its beaches and seawater, which ensure a beneficial effect on the health of residents and visitors. Cadzand and Domburg are the only places in the Netherlands to hold this title.
Active relaxation
The possibilities are endless. In good weather, you will find surfers and kite surfers on the water. In Cadzand's modern marina, it is a coming and going of sailing and motor boats. Near Cadzand, blokarts race across the beach.
Both the coast and the green hinterland are excellent for exploring by bike. You can park and recharge your electric bicycle at the hotel.
There are wonderful places to walk, for instance through the dunes, the Zwarte Polder or the Oudelandsche Polder with its Scottish Highlanders. Via Komoot's app, you will discover many wonderful routes for walkers and cyclists.
Those who enjoy playing golf can visit the 9-hole short golf course in Cadzand (for both beginners and advanced players), but Oostburg also has a golf course. In Knokke you will find the Royal Zoute Golf Club and towards Bruges the Damme Golf and Country Club.
At nearby Moio Beach, you can try out a range of water and beach sports yourself. In summer, they organise fun sports camps for the kids. You can also go catamaran sailing, paddle surfing or kite surfing yourself in Cadzand.
Sports pavilion C-Zand, located on the edge of the village, has outdoor and indoor tennis courts. Padel and squash lovers are also welcome here.
Close to Belgium
Belgium is just a stone's throw away. You can taste that in the special way of enjoying the region. In the many quality restaurants, and the Belgian beers and other specialities you can order on every terrace.
Bruges and Ghent each have their own character, but in both you will find a beautiful historic centre that attracts many visitors every year. You can wander the old streets, admire the many historic buildings or take a boat ride through the canals. Definitely worth a visit.
Knokke has a special allure. In this fashionable town, you stroll along the Boulevard and Kustlaan where the most exclusive brands welcome you in stylish boutiques.
Het green hinterland
The many polders are interspersed with a number of picturesque villages such as Retranchement or Groede. Sluis is an old fortified town where the ramparts that provided protection are still almost intact. The town hall is the only one in the Netherlands with a belfry.
Surrounding it are vast fields, fruit orchards, dykes, creeks and lakes. In the nature and recreation area Waterdunen, the polders are flooded with seawater in a controlled way, creating a unique flora and fauna. In Het Zwin nature reserve, nature is given free rein and a special biotope with fresh and salt water is also created here.
Culinary
Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is known for its gastronomy. Our own restaurant Le Sommet prepares refined dishes in a variety of international flavours. The large glass windows overlooking dunes and beach make the experience extra special. Our brasserie Henriette and wine tasting room The Wine House are also worth a visit.
The region also has several restaurants at a very high level. The surrounding villages have many restaurants, brasseries and bistros, and there are 17 beach pavilions along the beaches, each with its own character, where you can go for an aperitif or something to eat.
Flavours of the region
Zeeland mussels (from mid-summer onwards) and oysters are delicious. Sea lavender and samphire (May to September) are salty vegetables that grow at the interface between land and sea.
For Zeeland sweets, we recommend stroopwafels, as well as bolussen (a sweet coffee cake) or babbelaars (a typical Zeeland candy).
